This year’s BBC School Report Day at Wyvern was another great success. Over 20   students from across Year 10 worked tirelessly from 7.30am through to the end of the school day to create a fully functioning and interactive news website, with a range of written stories covering global news and current affairs, as well as local news from the Wyvern community. All stories were written and researched by the students who were handpicked by their teachers, as a result of their excellent work ethic in English Language and Literature. Special mention should go to Troy Cooper and Alex Pretorius who worked way beyond the 3.00pm deadline to create, arguably, the best and most professional website yet.

As this day coincided with the Wyvern Book Day, Year 10 Film Studies students Sam Foster and Harry Kemp worked diligently to cover the event. They created a thoroughly professional and well-researched news video, which included footage of Wyvern teachers dressed as their favourite book characters, either reading extracts from their favourite books or sharing stories of their memories reading stories as a child.

English Teacher Mr Dickinson, who organised and ran the BBC School Report event, said, “I would like to thank the Year 10 students for their excellent efforts and dedication throughout the BBC School Report Day, and also the  staff who contributed to the event. Many gave up their time to be interviewed regarding the various school news stories that the students were reporting on, as well as arriving down at our ‘news base’ in IT2 in their character costumes to contribute to the Wyvern Book Day news video.”
