Thank you so much for expressing an interest in our new and exciting Theatre School. We would like to give you an update on the plans that are unfolding for September and give you a chance to formally register your child’s place on the course.
We have joined up with the very experienced Lisa Gilmour who is an excellent teacher of Drama at The Mountbatten School in Romsey and is also an award winning Youth Theatre Director. Between us we have over 20 years of teaching and education experience and we know what really makes excellent performers and outstanding lessons. We aim to join together our experience to produce an outstanding course that will really build skills, discipline and confidence in our students.
We have booked space at Wyvern on a Monday after school and plan to keep the groups working for three hours. This will of course include opportunities for refreshment breaks where appropriate. The session will start near to the end of the school day. We need to allow for non Wyvern students to travel to the school so there will most likely be a gap between the end of the school day and the start of the Theatre School sessions. We have spoken with Wyvern about a potential gap and we have been advised that many pupils use the library in that time to catch up on homework if they are waiting for a club to start. This means that the session will finish around 6.30pm approximately. We still have to look at group numbers to determine the logistics of the sessions before we can confirm exact times. Hopefully this gives you a good idea at this stage.
The sessions are priced at £5.50 per hour. Registration will be for half a term and you will be asked to reconfirm your child’s place near to October half term. Your child will automatically keep their space unless otherwise discussed. Exam entry will be paid for later on in the year as the date approaches. The exam will most likely cost about £35 and you will receive plenty of notice to pay this.
Autumn term works out at 7 weeks before October half term and 8 weeks leading to Christmas. This means that our first half term fees would be £115.50 and second half term would be £132. We have had a very large number of responses to the registration of interest so therefore we will ask for a small deposit of £10 to save your child’s space and this will work on a first come first served basis. There will be a waiting list running based on the order in which we receive formal registration. Your fees will be paying for three things. Space, teachers and insurance.
If you complete a formal registration form and your child gets a place on the course we will ask you for your small deposit. This will secure the space and this will be taken off your first bill. This deposit will be non refundable as it will cover costing should your child not turn up for the first session. We will then offer the next child on the waiting list a space for the following week.
