We are thrilled to report Wyvern’s 2020 results further consolidate the excellent 2019 outcomes. Last year there was a significant improvement in the proportion of students achieving high grades (9 to 7) strong grades (9 to 5) and good grades (9 to 4) across all subjects. These improvements have been sustained this year with a year group whose prior attainment was lower than last year’s, indicating that they have made even greater progress than students in 2019 when the government judged progress to be well above the national average.

Early indications are that Wyvern students have once again performed significantly above the national average in the all key measures and all the subjects that make up the English Baccalaureate (English, Maths, Science, Languages Geography and History).  The average number of GCSEs entered by Wyvern students was 8.5 and once again the average grade achieved by our students was a strong pass (Grade 5) whereas the national average is a standard pass (grade 4).

84% of all grades awarded to our students were a standard pass (Grade 4) or higher; 66% of grades were strong passes (grade 5 or higher); almost a third of grades (30%) awarded are the highest grades (9 to 7), with 7% of all grades being the very highest grade 9 (double the 3.5% that get awarded nationally). Students achieved the highest grades in all subjects, demonstrating the very high academic standards that we have at Wyvern.

We would like to congratulate Year 11 on their achievements which stand up as excellent by any measure, but which are more so given the circumstances they have had to endure this year due to the pandemic, Not only have students worked hard but they have shown great resilience and fortitude in the face of Covid and we are very proud of them. We would like to thank the staff whose high quality teaching and support for our students has enabled them to do so well. We would also like to thank Wyvern’s parents for all the support they have provided for their children and for the college.  We wish our students all the best in the next steps of their education and would love for them to stay in touch with us.
